'Worms ate my Brussels sprouts'
| |||
Worm composting is what we're talking about. It's a method of recycling food waste into rich, dark soil conditioner. The great thing about worms, and composting, is that you can do this indoors or out, on an apartment balcony or in your back yard. All you need is a container big enough to house your redworms and enough moistened bedding to keep them happy. To this you add food waste. Salads, carrot peels, mango pits, leftover broccoli and even ... Brussels sprouts. The worms and microorganisms eventually convert the entire mess into rich compost. What to do with the compost? Use it to grow tomatoes or squash, or it's great for enriching the soil of a small herb garden on the kitchen window sill.
