Kicking off with USC

Advertiser Staff

The University of Hawai'i football team would open its season with national power Southern California three times in four years under an arrangement that could be announced as soon as this week.

The USC Web site lists season openers with UH in 2010, 2012 and 2013. UH is, so far, contracted to open the 2011 season with Colorado.

The 2010 game with the Trojans had previously been contracted but 2012 and 2013 would be additional games.

"We are very close, but I don't have anything I can state just yet," said Jim Donovan, UH athletic director. "That said, I think an announcement will be forthcoming shortly."

The 2012 game, listed for Sept. 1 in Los Angeles, would give UH consecutive road games to start the season since the Warriors are already contracted to play Brigham Young in Provo Sept. 8

The 2013 game would give UH a home nonconference lineup that also includes BYU and Army.
