Fulling his dream, Waipahu’s Brian Viloria will defend his International Boxing Federation light flyweight title in Hawai‘i.
Viloria, who won his world title in stunning fashion in April in the Philippines, will fight Jesus Iribe in a card scheduled for Aug. 29 at Blaisdell Arena.
Viloria’s manager Gary Gittelsohn said an undercard hasn’t been finalized but said that it will include fighters from here and the Philippines.
“We’ re tring to put all the ducks in order to bring a big championship fight to Hawai‘i, which has always been Brian’s dream and (which) he directed me to do.
“He really enjoyed fighting in front of a comfortable, supportive audience and he found that in Manila and Hawai‘i. He always wanted to have a world title fight in Hawai‘i.”
