Tinman to affect traffic Sunday

Advertiser Staff

The public is advised of street closures, conings and tow away zones for Sunday's Tinman Triathlon.

Starting at 1 a.m., tow away zones will be in effect for the race course along Kapi'olani Park, Diamond Head, Kahala, 'Aina Haina, Niu Valley and Hawai'i Kai. Beginning at 5 a.m., the race course will have one traffic lane closed or coned off. Those closures will be lifted once participants complete that section of the course.

The Tinman will start at 5:30 a.m. with an 800-meter swim at Queen's Beach, followed by a 40-kilometer bike ride from the transition area at Kapi'olani Park to Hawai'i Kai and back. The race will conclude with a 10-kilometer run from the transition area to Diamond Head and back.

Tim Marr has won the last three men's titles while Marion Summerer won last year's women's title.
