Sam Cyr of Makawao, Maui, shot an even-par 72 to tie for second place today and advance to match play at the Pacific Northwest Golf Association Men's Amateur Championship in Dupont, Wash.

Cyr, a King Kekaulike graduate who won his second straight NAIA national championship at Point Loma Nazarene (Calif.) in May, finished with a two-round total of 5-under 139, one shot behind leader Tyler Williams at The Home Course. Cyr shot a 67 to lead after Monday’s first round.
The top 64 golfers advanced to match play, which begins tomorrow.
