Maui's Isagawa tops amateur qualifier

Baldwin High's Cassy Isagawa and Dottie Ardina of the Philippines are headed to the USGA Women's Amateur National Championship next month.
Isagawa topped a field of 22 players with a 2-under-par 70 yesterday to claim medalist honors in a sectional qualifier at the Waikoloa Beach Kings' course on the Big Island.
Ardina birdied her final hole for a 1-under 71 to beat out countrywoman Cyna Marie Rodriguez and Pearl City's Mari Chun by a shot for the second of two berths. Rodriguez and Chun shot 72s to claim the alternate spots.
Honolulu's Allisen Corpuz was next at 73, followed by Honolulu's Alina Ching and Hilo's Britney Yada at 74.
The nationals will be held Aug. 3 to 9 at Old Warton Country Club in St. Louis.
