Power restored in Kaneohe

A fault in an underground power cable left some 1,855 Hawaiian Electric Company customers without electricity this afternoon. The outage occurred at 12:14 p.m. and power was restored by 1:05 p.m.

The affected streets and communities included Kahehiki Highway, Keahala Road, Ha'iku Road, Kahuhipa Street, Haiku Point Townhouses, He'eia Street, Halualani Estates, Kalali Street, Ha'iku Gardens, Ha'iku Plantation and Hololio Street Crown Estates.

An earlier outage also left areas of Palolo Valley and St. Louis Heights in the dark.

The outage, caused by a transformer failure, was reported at 4:48 a.m. Power was restored at 9:40 a.m.
