Kahuku alum Afalava to play in East-West Shrine Game

Oregon State senior safety Al Afalava, a Kahuku alum, will play in the 84th annual East-West Shrine Game Jan 17 at the University of Houston.

The game will be played at 11 a.m. Hawai'i time and is being televised by ESPN2.

Afalava joins teammates Sammie Stroughter, Victor Strong-Butler and Brandon Hughes on the West team, which will be coached by former NCAA and NFL head coach Gene Stallings.

Afalava started 36 career games and finished his career with 167 tackles. He earned All-Pac 10 honorable mention honors in 2007 and 2008.
