COLUMBUS, Ohio — Jon Diebler scored 21 points and No. 15 Ohio State beat Eastern Michigan 111-60 today after losing star player Evan Turner, who hurt his back in an awkward fall.
The Buckeyes (7-1) scored at least 110 points for the second time in eight days, and the total against Eastern was the ninth-most in program history.
The win was tempered by the loss of Turner, one of the nation's top all-around players who came in averaging 20.6 points and 12.9 rebounds.
Turner was fouled on a dunk attempt, held onto the rim too long and landed on his back out of bounds. He lay on the floor for a couple of minutes before slowly limping to the locker room. He was later transported to the Ohio State University Medical Center for X-rays of his lower back.
Brandon Bowdry scored 24 points and Carlos Medlock 13 for Eastern (5-3).
