Hazardous surf postpones O'Neill World Cup at Sunset Beach
The O'Neill World Cup of Surfing is postponed today due to large and hazardous surf conditions at Sunset Beach.
Wave-face heights are in the 30- to 40-foot range.
The contest still needs one more day of competition to determine a winner. Sunday is the last day of the holding period, so the event will run tomorrow at Sunset Beach.
The O'Neill World Cup of Surfing is the second event in the Vans Triple Crown of Surfing.
The Quiksilver In Memory of Eddie Aikau contest also will not run today at Waimea Bay. That event could start on Monday, when waves are expected to get even bigger.
