Thousands collect trash in San Francisco

The California Coastal Commission estimates volunteers collected 742,154 pounds of garbage, from empty soda cans to drug paraphernalia, from San Francisco Bay Area beaches.

More than 55,000 people gave up their Saturday to pick up debris along the Bay Area's coastline as part of an annual clean-up.Organizers say much of what they collected was recyclable.
