CLEMSON, S.C. _ James Davis ran for three touchdowns to lead No. 23 Clemson to a 54-0 victory against South Carolina State today.
The Tigers (3-1) have won three straight since a season-opening loss to Alabama and moved to 22-0 against Championship Subdivision opponents.
Davis had TD runs of 1, 5 and 1 yard as Clemson built a 30-0 halftime lead.
The Tigers' defense did their part, too. They had three interceptions, one that Chris Clemmons brought back for a touchdown; held the Bulldogs to minus 9 yards rushing in the opening half and had a safety.
It was Clemson's first shutout since a 51-0 win over Louisiana Tech in 2006.
