Weather: Scattered, isolated showers likely today

The trade winds have returned and are expected to strengthen across the islands today, the National Weather Service said.

A high pressure area north of the state will keep the trades blowing through the weekend, forecasters said.

Satellite imagery shows high clouds blanketing the islands but radars show no rainfall around the islands this morning.

Here's how the remainder of the work week is shaping up:

Today: Isolated showers. Partly cloudy, with a high near 85. East wind between 14 and 17 mph, with gusts as high as 22 mph. Chance of precipitation is 20 percent.

Tonight: Scattered showers. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 71. East wind around 17 mph, with gusts as high as 22 mph. Chance of precipitation is 30 percent.

Thursday: Scattered showers, mainly before noon. Partly cloudy, with a high near 85. East wind around 15 mph, with gusts as high as 20 mph. Chance of precipitation is 40 percent.

Thursday night: Scattered showers. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 71. East wind between 11 and 13 mph. Chance of precipitation is 30 percent.

Friday: Scattered showers. Mostly cloudy, with a high near 83. East wind around 13 mph. Chance of precipitation is 30 percent.

Friday night: Scattered showers. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 70. Northeast wind around 10 mph. Chance of precipitation is 30 percent.
