Feldmann, Stubblefield win match play title

Larry Stubblefield sank a 6-foot birdie putt on the 20th hole as he teamed with Andrew Feldmann to beat Jerry Mullen and Damien Jamila, 1-up, yesterday in the final of the Aloha Section's Nike Golf/Golf Concepts 4-Ball Match Play Championship at Oahu Country Club.

Stubblefield's clutch birdie was the 13th of the match between the teams and earned the defending champions $3,500.

Earlier in the semifinals, Stubblefield and Feldmann beat Shane Abe and John Hearn, 1-up, and Mullen and Jamila ousted Kevin Carll and Michael Castillo, 1-up.

HAMAMOTO 71ST

Hilo's Jarett Hamamoto shot 4-over 76 yesterday and was tied for 71st at 8-over 152 after two rounds of a PGA qualifying school first stage tournament in Dayton, Nev. The top 23 scorers after 72 holes advance.


BASEBALL

HONU, BEACHBOYS WIN

Matt McBride and Jason Castro hit solo homers and Jason Godin teamed with three relievers on a nine-hit shutout as North Shore beat Honolulu, 7-0, last night in Hawaii Winter Baseball at Hans L'Orange Park.

Godin worked five innings, scattering seven hits and striking out six for the Honu (8-12).

Shintaro Masuda had three hits for the Sharks (13-7).

Earlier, Yonder Alonso hit a two-run homer to lead Waikiki (9-11) to a 9-8 victory over West Oahu (10-10). Cyle Hankerd hit a pair of two-run homers and an RBI double for the CaneFires.


VOLLEYBALL

BYUH 10-0 IN PACWEST

Agnes Tuilevuka had 14 kills as host Brigham Young-Hawai'i beat Grand Canyon, 25-14, 25-15, 25-18, last night in a Pacific West Conference match.

Losaline Faka'osi added 11 kills and 11 digs for BYUH (13-5, 10-0). Heather Baron had seven kills for Grand Canyon (13-11, 6-4).
