Waipahu power outage leads to school closures

Advertiser Staff

Approximately 7,500 Hawaiian Electric Co. customers in Waipahu, Pearl City and the Ocean Pointe subdivision are without electrical service at this time.

HECO officials said the power went out about 3:30 a.m., plunging the affected areas into darkness.

A HECO trouble crew is in the area trying to determine the cause of the problem.

Lanakila Baptist School and Saint Joseph School, both in Waipahu, have cancelled classes today due to the power outage.
