The Women's World Festival of 2008, today and tomorrow at the Hawai'i Convention Center, offers an exciting mix of subjects, including fashion.

Stephanie Matsumoto, an attorney, member of The Advertiser's Fashion Forum and producer of 3Piece Productions, presents "All About Brazil," a carnivale-inspired fashion show featuring the work of Chris Barreto, a Brazilian-born designer who now lives on the Big Island, featuring music by New York-based Zooga Malaga, films about the streets and people of Brazil and lively Brazilian dancing, from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. in the Hawai'i Convention Center's Maui room. Tickets, $12, allow entry for two days to 24 workshops and 12 stage productions; 271-7687. (Matsumoto also presents a "Dress for a Better You," seminar from 4 to 5 p.m.; www.womenofourworld.com.)

Takeo and Eric Chandler of 2Couture at 7 present "Fashion Treasures of the World" tonight in the Maui room. Kristian Lei will entertain.

'WHAT NOT TO WEAR' CO-HOST AT MACY'S

Clinton Kelly of TLC's hit show "What Not to Wear" is the fashion cop we all love — and listen to for "style esteem." Kelly hosts a fashion tutorial and runway show featuring fall fashions and wardrobe essentials for women sizes 14W to 24W at 1 p.m. tomorrow in Macy's Ala Moana, Level 3.

One lucky guest will win a $500 fall shopping spree from the Macy Woman Department, with Kelly as her personal stylist. Free, but seating is limited. To RSVP: 945-6427 or MacysEventsHi@macys.com.

FASHIONISTA'S SWAP

Fashionista's Market and Divas Doing Good hold their second annual Closet Swap at 9:30 a.m. Sunday at Luana Hills Country Club. Here's how it works: 1. Clean out your closet of fashionable, gently used clothes, bags, shoes and accessories. 2. Drop off castaways at The Wedding Cafe, Ward Warehouse, tomorrow. You'll get a shopping credit. 3. On Sunday, get ready to swap.

Tickets, $25, include a champagne brunch, games and giveaways, a DJ and guest speakers; 591-1005, info@fashionistasmarket.com. The event benefits Sustainable Saunders, a University of Hawai'i nonprofit.

KENSEI TAKEDA SHOW OFFERS ESCAPISM

Jewelry designer Kensei Takeda offered a respite from worldly woes during his sold-out show at Halekulani on Sunday. The show of fashions and jewelry offered a dream vision from the designer. From the first pose, creating a striking silhouette against the simple backdrop, the models were in character, interpreting Kensei's choreography like actresses. Balletic hand gestures guided the eye to Kensei's sumptuous jewels.

Takeda spent weeks casting the models for the show, who must be among the Islands' most statuesque, elegant women. The jewelry included bold and beautiful layers of necklaces and bracelets as well as statement-making earrings. From shawls to chapeaux, Kensei draped and embellished the models with beads, embroidery, tulle and feathers.

MARCIANO OPENS AT ROYAL HAWAIIAN CENTER

Marciano, with its glamorous, unapologetically sexy image, has opened in the Royal Hawaiian Center. It's the third flagship store worldwide, a nod to the importance of Honolulu on the world fashion scene. The interior features one-of-a-kind chandeliers, animal print decor and a collection of modern lounge furniture. The store will carry the brand's full line of clothing; 931-6116 or www.marciano.com.

HORSES REIGN AT EAST HONOLULU CLOTHING CO.

Fashion designer Andrea Weymouth-Fujie rides horses every chance she gets. That inspired her "Horsechicks Hawai'i," a line of casual wear. Tomorrow, East Honolulu Clothing Co. will celebrate horses by introducing a new print, Pegasus; 265-7326 or doublepawswear@hawaii.rr.com.

The store will also feature Reni Yalimaiwai's new Waimanalo horse-country inspired line of jewelry. It's edgy yet sophisticated, made of sterling silver, leather and semiprecious stones.
