Sixteen men and three women are in the state Department of Public Safety's15th law enforcement recruit class which graduates Friday at the Hawai'i Okinawa Center.

The recruits completed 25 weeks of training that included firearms, penal code, chemical agents, drug identification, emergency vehicle operation, traffic enforcement, defensive tactics, CPR/First Aid, weapons of mass destruction, and terrorism.

The class will be sworn in as deputy sheriffs during the 11 a.m. to noon ceremony. Hawai'i attorney general Mark Bennett will be the keynote speaker. Public Safety director Clayton Frank will also speak.

The Hawai'i Okinawa Center is located at 94-587 Uke'e St.
