Three gymnasts from the Hawaiian Island Twisters recently earned spots on a national team where they will get a chance to train with Olympic coaches.

Kiana Palin, a sixth-grader at Salt Lake Elementary, Lauren Lauri a fourth-grader at Le Jardin Academy, and Sarah Barron, a third-grader at Waldorf School, were selected at a competition in October in Houston.

The top 20 in each age group were chosen to advance from the October competition.

The three will compete Dec. 7 to 11 at the Talent Opportunity Program B training camp.

The camp will be in Houston at Karolyi's Gymnastics, home of Olympic coaches Bela and Martha Karolyi.
