Police say dead man at Ko Olina a suicide

Advertiser Staff

Honolulu Police Department homicide investigators yesterday were awaiting results of autopsies on a man and woman found dead Friday afternoon at a Ko Olina Coconut Plantation home, police said.

The Honolulu Medical Examiner's Office said yesterday that it had not positively identified the man or woman, and that the autopsies would be conducted this week.

Police released few other details yesterday.

They said patrol officers responded to a call to check on the welfare of occupants at the residence shortly after 5 p.m. Friday. Officers found the body of the woman, 36, in the living room, and then the body of the man, 40, in an enclosed garage, police said.

Both were dead when police arrived. The man's death was classified as a suicide and the woman's an unattended death, police said.

Police suspect that the woman died first and the man later went into the garage and killed himself.
