Akaka to be honored by Gregory House

Sen. Daniel Akaka will be honored by Gregory House Programs at its annual award dinner today called Kahu Malama Dinner at the Hawai'i State Art Museum.
Akaka is being recognized for his work supporting HIV/AIDS. Akaka was instrumental in securing money to support Gregory House Programs and the renovation of the transitional housing facility that will begin later this year.
Gregory House is celebrating its 20th anniversary. It provides housing and support services for people with HIV/AIDS.
"I am honored to be receiving the Gregory House Programs annual Kahu Malama Award," Akaka said in a prepared statement. "I recognize the tremendous value of the Gregory House Programs in providing essential housing and support services to people with HIV/AIDS and their families."
The award dinner is at Hawaii State Art Museum called Downtown @ HiSAM. Tickets are $100 including food and a wine bar, or $75 for food only. Tickets are available by calling 592-9022 or at the door. The museum is located at 250 Hotel St.
Gregory House Programs is a nonprofit Hawai'i corporation, providing rent assistance, emergency rent, utility assistance, temporary shelter and support services for people with HIV/AIDS.
