City Ocean Safety Officials will keep the shark sighting signs posted throughout the night at Waimea Bay following a confirmed shark sighting and will evaluate if the warnings tomorrow morning.
The warnings first were posted Thursday and remained up overnight and throughout today, said Bryan Cheplic, Emergency Medical Services spokesman.
Lifeguards saw a shark, 6 feet to 8 feet long, at Waimea Bay on Thursday.
The signs are just warnings to swimmers.
"It's hard to say if it's one shark or more than one," Cheplic said. "Ideally we don't want people to go in the water. We encourage them not to."
