A husband and wife were killed yesterday morning in a car crash at the hairpin turn on Ko'olau Road on Kaua'i's North Shore between Kilauea and Moloa'a.
The couple were identified as Paul Goodrich, 56, and his wife Laurie-Ann, 47, of Kilauea.
Police said Paul Goodrich apparently lost control of the 1994 Porsche convertible he was driving at 8:40 a.m. The car went off the road, slid down a slope and struck a tree.
Both were pronounced dead at the scene.
Police said speed may be a contributing factor in this crash.
The deaths are Kaua'i's sixth and seventh fatalities of 2008, four more than on the same date last year.
As of today, 39 people have died in traffic accidents this year in Hawai'i as compared to 54 by this date in 2007.
