Special UH concert April 7 at Blaisdell

The University of Hawai'i-Manoa music department will celebrate the school's centennial and its 60th anniversay April 7 at Blaisdell Concert Hall.
The 8 p.m. benefit concert will feature the UH symphony orchestra, under the direction of Henry Miyamura; the UH chamber singers and concert choir, under the direction of Rachel Samet; the UH brass ensemble, faculty, and alumni soloists.
The program will include Rossini's William Tell Overture, Allegremente from Maurice Ravel's Piano Concert in D, Finale from Jean Sibelius' Symphony No. 2 in D Major, "Make Our Garden Grow" from Leonard Bernstein's Candide, and a "Centennial Celebration poem for the University of Hawai'i" by Maori poet Robert Sullivan read by Chancellor Virginia S. Hinshaw.
