The department cited the following entities:

  • Syngenta Seeds Inc., a seed processing facility in Kekaha, Kaua'i. Syngenta was assessed a penalty of $9,900 for changing the operation of its fumigant chamber without prior notification and approval from the Department of Health, health officials said. The penalty has been paid.

  • Dekalb Genetics Corp., a seed processing facility in Hanapepe, Kaua'i. Dekalb paid a penalty of $5,900 for changing the operation of its fumigant chamber without prior notification and approval from the Department of Health.

  • Ameron Hawai'i, a stone processing and concrete batch facility at Kapa'a Quarry in Kailua. Ameron was cited for late submittal of its January to June 2007 semiannual reports. A penalty of $2,200 has been imposed. Ameron is allowed 20 days to contest the Notice of Violation and Order. If it does, the case will be scheduled for a hearing, health officials said.
