The free 14th annual Science Symposium for Girls, from 8:30 to 11:30 a.m. today at Sacred Hearts Academy, is aimed at girls in grades 5 through 8 and their parents. Registration begins at 7:45 a.m., and walk-ins are welcome.

The program includes 21 hands-on workshops — helped along by experts such as an engineer, veterinarian and a pharmacist — from which girls can choose two. Meanwhile, parents can attend a guidance session led by counselor Emma Pavich.
