KALAHEO, Kaua'i – A 13-year-old girl was slightly injured Thursday morning when she was bumped by a truck while crossing Kaumuali'i Highway in Kalaheo.

She was taken to Wilcox Hospital as a precautionary measure.

According to a preliminary report, the girl ran across the highway near Steve's Mini-Mart at the intersection of Kaumuali'i Highway and Papalina Drive at 6:51 a.m. The crosswalk light was red when she attempted to cross the roadway.

A state Department of Transportation utility truck making a left-hand turn from Opu Road onto Kaumuali'i Highway struck the girl as she was crossing the roadway.
