Copeland wins Hawaiian Islands bodybuiding

Brian Copeland captured the Open Division title for the second time at
the 30th Hawaiian Island Bodybuilding & Figures Championship last
night at the Blaisdell Concert Hall.
He qualifies for national level competition that will be expense-paid
by the promoters of last night's event.
Adam Dupart went uncontested in the bantam weight (up to 143 1/4
pounds); Aaron Madriaga won the light weight (to 154 1/4); Fran Sur
captured the light-heavy weight (to 198 1/4; and Copeland took the
heavy weight division (over 198 1/4).
Michelle Abraminko captured the open women's Figures Championship. She
won the tall class (5 feet, 6 inches and taller), beating out short
class (up to 5-4) champion Lori Cruz and medium champion (5-4 to 5-6)
Sarah Shea. Abraminko also qualifies for national-level competition.
Maria Kahumoku won the Master's Figures title without competition as
the sole entrant.
Men's middle weight champion Bernard Landford won the overall Junior
title, besting light weight champion Domminick Ventimiglia and heavy
weight Kaui Kaui.
In the Men' Masters (35-years and older), heavy weight champion Joe
Lake beat out light weight champion Eddie Damasco for the overall
title.
