A diesel engine retrofit program is being introduced by the city and county of Honolulu, along with the Environmental Protection Agency's Pacific Southwest Region Air Division.
The program is aimed at reducing diesel air emissions from vehicles and engines for both highway and nonroad vehicles operated by public and private organizations, including the state Department of Transportation, the City and County of Honolulu, the Board of Water Supply, Grace Pacific Corp., and Aiwohi Brothers, the EPA announced today.
A media event will be held tomorrow at the city's Alapai Bus Facility to demonstrate the cleaner retrofitted diesel trucks, showing the difference between standard diesel truck and a cleaner "retrofitted" one.
The event is from 10 to 11 a.m.
