Tony preview show with Loretta airs Saturday

By Wayne Harada

The airing date has been set for that VISA Signature Tony Awards Preview Concert, earlier taped by CBS in New York, on which Hawai'i nominee Loretta Ables Sayre performs "Bali Ha'i," her signature tune from "South Pacific," the Rodgers & Hammerstein musical revival up for a handful of Tonys.

The show, airing in limited markets including Honolulu, will be at 6 p.m. Saturday on KGMB9. Mario Lopez (now in "A Chorus Line" on Broadway) hosts; Ables Sayre, a nominee for Featured Actress in a Musical, dons a gown, not her Bloody Mary outfit, in performances with other Tony contenders taped at Jazz at Lincoln Center's Allen Room two days before the nominees were announced last month.

The Tony Awards will be shown tape-delayed here from 7 to 10 p.m. June 15 on KGMB9.
