"Change Bandits," a grassroots fundraising effort designed to turn spare change into big money-making miracles for the children treated at Kapi'olani Medical Center for Women & Children, will be launched tomorrow.

The campaign will continue through Aug. 20, with a key event set from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Aug. 13 at Tamarind Park.

Kids who want to be a Change Benefit to solicit funds for the hospital can find how-to-join information at www.kapiolani.org and click on the Change Bandit icon, or call the Kapi'olani Health Foundation at 951-5437. The Kapi'olani Children's Miracle Network will "deputize" Change Bandits with a collection kit including a bandit's mask, badge, bandana, bag and "Wanted" poster to alert folks to the mission.

The campaign is part of a Radiothon for Kids, a prelude to the annual Kapi'olani Children's Miracle Network Radiothon for Kids live broadcast on KSSK radio Aug. 21 and 22, originating from the Kapi'olani Medical Center. Listeners may make donations by calling 951-5437 or online at www.kapiolani.org.
