KAPOLEI
Another truck spill shuts down key intersection

Advertiser Staff

City buses and other vehicles were diverted from Kapolei Parkway at Kalaeloa Boulevard near the Home Depot for just over an hour after a truck spilled a large amount of lumber onto the road at about 8:17 a.m. yesterday.

It took just over an hour for work crews to clean up the debris.

The accident affected cars traveling Honolulu-bound into Kapolei from Campbell Industrial Park since vehicles could not access Kamokila Boulevard, the main artery through downtown Kapolei. They instead needed to take a detour along a more mauka route.

It is the second time in a month that traffic has been blocked because a large truck has had an accident while trying to make the turn onto Kapolei Parkway from Kalaeloa Boulevard. Last month, a Rolloffs garbage truck tipped over and the road was closed to allow crews to sweep up.
