Kailua Beach Park is the place to be to watch professional architects and students compete in the 31st Annual Great Hawaiian Sandcastle Event, themed "If Architects Ruled the World ... "

Awards will be given in professional and student divisions, and for team spirit and banner, best use of medium (yes, that's sand!), best interpretation of theme and honorable mention.

It happens from 9 to 11 a.m. today at Kailua Beach Park.
