Few box jellyfish found this morning

Advertiser Staff

The monthly box jellyfish influx dropped off substantially this morning with fewer than 100 being found in Waikiki, Emergency Services spokesman Bryan Cheplic said.

"Even though there were very few found, we're still asking people to check with lifeguards before heading into the water," said Cheplic.

Yesterday, more than 1,600 jellyfish were found in Waikiki and lifeguards treated more than 170 people for stings. No stings have been reported this morning. At Ala Moana, less than five box jellyfish were found today.
