Mayor Mufi Hannemann today suspended his press secretary, Bill Brennan, for five days without pay following Brennan's arrest Friday on suspicion of driving under the influence of alcohol.
Brennan was arrested at about 2 a.m. Friday, a few blocks from his Kahala home.
Hannemann said in a news release that while the arrest was not related to Brennan's official duties and that the case is pending, Hannemann emphasized that he takes public safety issues very seriously.
The release said Brennan agreed to the suspension and said he will take full responsibility for his actions.
