A free screening of the documentary "Living Your Dying" with the founder of the University of Hawai'i's religion department, Mitsuo Aoki, will be at 4 p.m. Aug. 23 at Unity Church of Hawaii.

The film celebrates the life of Aoki, a semi-retired theologian, who is scheduled to appear. The documentary was produced by Lotus Films and directed by Robert Pennybacker.

DOCUMENTARY ON TIBET IN HILO

"Dalai Lama Renaissance," a documentary about the Dalai Lama and Tibet narrated by Harrison Ford, will screen at the Palace Theatre, 38 Haili St. in Hilo this weekend.

The documentary has won more than a dozen film festival awards, and is the official selection of 40 film festivals around the world.

Tickets are $10 ($8 members) for the film, which shows through Sunday.

CHURCH EXPANDS WINDWARD REACH

New Hope Windward Christian Fellowship has been expanding its reach with three services at the Regal Windward multiplex as well as a weekly service at Kailua High School.

Now, a total of four services are held at what Dave Barr, senior pastor, calls "portable locations." A setup crew arrives at about 5 a.m. at the Windward Mall multiplex to have three screens available for 7:30, 9 a.m. and 10:30 a.m. services. Church members must vacate by noon, when the popcorn crowd arrives to see "Dark Knight" and other blockbusters. The Kailua High service is at 10 a.m. in the cafeteria.

The church has also completed a $50,000 makeover of the chapel at the women's correctional facility on Kalaniana'ole Highway to house the growing number of attendees there.
