Quarterback Tyler Graunke will not be joining the team for this weekend's start of training camp while he resolves a personal issue.
Graunke told The Advertiser he is hopeful his situation will be resolved soon, allowing him to participate in Monday's first practice of training camp. The veterans report Sunday.
But in a news release, coach Greg McMackin said: "Tyler has things to work on. At this point, he will not practice with the team. Because of privacy laws, I can't comment further."
Graunke also said he did not want to comment further until his situation clarified.
Graunke and Inoke Funaki exited spring training as the co-No. 1 quarterbacks. Earlier this week, McMackin said Graunke, Funaki and junior-college transfers Greg Alexander and Brent Rausch were contenders for the starting job. McMackin said he expected to have a starter selected by the second week of training camp.
