Dental office evacuated on Big Island

Advertiser Staff

Patients and personnel were evacuated from a dentist office on the Big Island today as a precautionary measure after the fire department received several complaints of foul odor.

According to Big Island Fire Department reports, the odor at Hawaii Family Dental in Kailua-Kona may have come from drying joint compound, latex caulk or latex paint from an exam room that was being renovated.

Three people were evacuated, none needing medical attention. The office was ventilated and fire officials cleared the office to re-open at the business's discretion.
