Fort Weaver Road lanes will close for widening

Single-lane closures will continue this week in both directions of Fort Weaver Road in a widening project.

In the southbound direction from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m., the left lane will be closed between Laulaunui Street and Old Fort Weaver Road for trenching work to install electrical conduits. There will also be a single lane closed from Old Fort Weaver Road to Renton Road for temporary lane striping.

In the northbound direction from 9 a.m. to 1:30 p.m., there will be intermittent closure of a single lane from A'awa Drive to the Honouliuli Stream Bridge for lane striping and concrete barrier installations.

The work is part of Phase II of a project to widen Fort Weaver Road from four lanes to six. The $59.85 million project is expected to end by mid-2009.

Motorists are advised to use caution while driving through the work area and to allow for extra travel time. Roadwork is weather-permitting.
