FOOD EDITOR TO SIGN 'THE ISLAND PLATE'

If you haven't yet gotten a copy, or you need another one, Advertiser food editor Wanda Adams will be on hand from 7:30 to 11 a.m. April 19 and May 3 at the Kapi'olani Community College Saturday Farmers Market, signing copies of "The Island Plate; 150 Years of Recipe and Food Lore from The Honolulu Advertiser" ($20). Adams is hard at work now on "The Island Plate II," another recipe collection, to be released this holiday season by Island Heritage publishers; this book will include many recipes requested by readers.

THE GRAPE ESCAPE

WINE AND PUPU EVENT SET FOR APRIL 12

How does seared 'ahi with tapenade and a chilled white wine sound? The Grape Escape, an annual wine-tasting event for Saint Louis School, promises great food plus an array of moderately priced domestic wines, as well as bottles worth hundreds of dollars. Spearheaded by alumnus Dwight Otani, tickets ensure fine wine samples and heavy pupu from 3660 on The Rise, The Willows and Outback Steak House to name a few. Tickets are $100 each or $2,500 for a table for 10. There'll be local entertainers, some with Saint Louis ties; silent and live auctions could win you a trip to California wine country. 6 to 10 p.m. April 12, Saint Louis School Athletic Complex. 739-4862.
