Old legends, new businesses

The Hawaiian pig god, kamapua'a, who lived in Kaliuwa'a canyon, comes alive in a video and discussion of the valley, better known as Sacred Falls.

Creighton and Cathy Mattoon, who helped compile an oral history of the area, will share information about legends and lore from the area at 6:30 p.m. Sept. 18 at the Kahuku Public & School Library.

Also that evening, at 6 p.m., a series on Starting a Small Business on the North Shore continues in the library's Reading Room.

Chuck Steilen, dean of business at Hawai'i Pacific University, coaches entrepreneurs interested in setting up a business, including reviewing business plans.
