Adoption urged for sculptures
Advertiser Staff
The mayor is encouraging organizations to adopt a sculpture in recognition of October as National Arts and Humanities Month in Honolulu.
There are more than 80 public monuments and sculptures available for adoption on O'ahu.
Participating groups or businesses will help the city with the routine upkeep of the public art pieces for a term of five years.
Training on preservation techniques will be provided for free.
"Public sculptures beautify and enhance our community," said Mayor Mufi Hannemann.
