The county is promoting alcohol- and drug-free graduation celebrations by offering $60,000 in funding for Project Graduation programs in 2008.

Public and private high schools may apply for a maximum of $5,000. Half the amount must be used to subsidize participation of needy graduates.

Project Graduation grant applications are available at the Department of Housing and Human Concerns' Volunteer Center at One Main Plaza, 2200 Main St., Suite 601, or by calling 808-270-7150.

Nov. 30 is the application deadline. Award notifications will be made by Dec. 21. For more information, contact Volunteer Center coordinator Wendy Stebbins at 270-7150.
