Resident wants to build pier

A Wailupe Peninsula resident is seeking state permission to build a pier from his property into the ocean.
Kenton Eldridge has submitted a draft environmental assessment to the state for the project, a requirement before obtaining a needed conservation district use permit.
There are currently 22 piers from the 31 ocean-front properties along Wailupe Peninsula, said project consultant Mary O'Leary.
Send comments on the project to the state Department of Land and Natural Resources Office of Conservation and Coast Lands, P.O. Box 621, Honolulu, HI 96809.
The deadline for comments is June 7.
