Taeja Afalava scored 13 points and LeNora Nauahi 10 as host Kahuku beat Kaimuki, 57-42, last night in an O'ahu Interscholastic Association Red East season-opening girls basketball game.

The difference in the game proved to be the second quarter, when the Red Raiders outscored the Bulldogs 20-4 to take a 29-14 lead at the half.

Louise Fiamate led Kaimuki with 14 points.
