WAIMANALO
Local kids get field priority

Advertiser Staff

Neighborhood board members say they'll fully support efforts to give local teams priority use of Waimanalo fields.

The Wai-manalo War-riors baseball program, which includes 19 teams with several hundred players, is required to share the local ball fields with Kan'eohe and Kailua teams under a city permit granted to PONY League baseball.

"We maintain the fields and want to make sure Waimanalo kids come first in using them," Hau'oli Wong, president of the program, told the board this week.

Season-opening ceremonies are set for 10 a.m. Saturday at Waimanalo Beach Park, Wong said.
