Property to be auctioned off

The state Department of Transportation will soon clean up a 5,000-square-foot property at the corner of Wai'alae and Kapahulu avenues and put it up for auction by the end of the year.
Two years ago, the property was auctioned off. But the highest bidder at $1.1 million was unable to close the purchase, and the property was left vacant since then, said DOT spokesman Scott Ishikawa.
Some residents have voiced concerns about the vacant building and carport, calling it an eyesore.
"We'll be sprucing it up," Ishikawa said.
