Advertiser Staff

The Department of Land and Natural Resources will start construction next week on a new comfort station, septic tank and leach field and other work at the 'Opaeka'a Falls Lookout at Wailua River State Park.

The work on the comfort station, valued at $448,000, is being done by Colin & Dillon Construction, and also includes a new picnic table, water fountain and trail improvements.

BCP Construction of Hawai'i is scheduled to do the sewer system work, at a cost of $273,700.

"The lookout will remain open during construction," said Allan Smith, interim chairman of the land department.
