WAC honors 28 UH athletes

Twenty-eight University of Hawai'i student-athletes, including 14 members of the Warrior football team, were named to the Western Athletic Conference All-Academic Fall Team.
In addition to football, the sports included cross country, women's soccer and women's volleyball. A student-athlete must have completed one academic year with a minimum 3.0 grade-point average and have been involved in at least 50 percent of a team's events.
The Rainbow Wahine soccer team placed seven players on the academic squad, the women's cross country team had four and the women's volleyball team placed three.
The UH athletes honored were:
Cross country—Sharlene Carillo, Chantelle Laan, Ashley Monfort, McKenzie Wallace. Football— Solomon Elimimian, Renolds Fruean, Jacob Ingram, Tyson Kafentzis, Aaron Kia, Michael Malala, Myron Newberry, Karl Noa, Jacob Patek, Amani Purcell, Blaze Soares, Dane Uperesa, David Veikune, Keala Watson. Women's soccer—Jessica Domingo, Taryn Fukuroku, Tehane Higa, Kelsie Look, Kristen Oshiro, Koren Takeyama, Lehua Wood. Women's volleyball—Kanoe Kamana'o, Jayme Lee, Cayley Thurlby.

The latest class of the Hawai'i Sports Hall of Fame was inducted night at a banquet held at Honolulu Country Club.

The Hall of Fame has enshrined 104 since it was established in 1997.

BYUH SPLITS
Crystal De La Cruz pitched a four-hitter as Brigham Young-Hawai'i won the opener, 6-0, but the Seasiders gave up 18 hits in the second game as Arkansas-Monticello prevailed, 11-7, yesterday at the BYUH field.
De La Cruz, who struck out two and walked one, also hit a solo homer and Holly Bjork added two hits and three RBIs to lead the Seasiders (3-1).
In the second game, Jenny Dunn had four hits, including a home run, and Terri Rodgers also homered for Arkansas-Monticello (2-6).
