STANFORD, Calif. — Freshman guard Jeanette Pohlen understands playing time could be limited this year with an All-American and three other returning guards ahead of her.

She's satisfied with making contributions whenever she gets on the court.

Pohlen scored a career-high 20 points, all in the second half, and No. 2 Stanford beat Washington, 77-42, yesterday afternoon.

"When I do get in and get good, open looks I'll take them," said Pohlen, who was 6-of-9 from the field, including a 3-of-5 from long range. "My main focus is to contribute wherever I'm needed. I try to play defense on the other end and go for steals."

Fellow freshman Kayla Pedersen added 12 points and 12 rebounds to help the Cardinal (12-1, 2-0 Pac-10) hand the Huskies (5-9, 0-2) their worst loss of the season.

Jayne Appel and Candice Wiggins each added 12 points.

NO. 4 NORTH CAROLINA 88, LIBERTY 67: Latoya Pringle had 25 points and 10 rebounds, and All-American Erlana Larkins scored 15 points before leaving with a broken left hand as the Tar Heels (13-1) beat the Flames (11-2) at Chapel Hill, N.C.

No. 5 Maryland 98, UMBC 56: Marissa Coleman scored 18 points and the Terrapins (16-1) made an ACC-record 17 3-pointers in a rout of the Retrievers (4-9) in the Terrapin Classic at College Park, Md.

No. 6 Rutgers 70, Temple 34: Epiphanny Prince scored 20 points and the Scarlet Knights (9-2) showed no signs of rust after an 18-day break for exams with a rout off the Owls (7-7) at Piscataway, N.J.

No. 7 Georgia 70, Florida International 54: Ashley Houts scored a career-high 24 points and the Lady Bulldogs (12-0) beat the Golden Panthers (4-9) to win the FIU Sun & Fun Classic in Miami.

No. 8 LSU 73, New Orleans 46: Quianna Chaney scored 14 points and RaShonta LeBlanc 12 to lead the Lady Tigers (10-3) past the Lady Privateers (7-5), who scored the first basket of the game, and never led again at Baton Rouge, La.

No. 9 Oklahoma 95, South Carolina 63: Freshman Danielle Robinson had 20 points and six assists, and Courtney Paris had her 72nd straight double-double with 10 points and 24 rebounds as the Sooners (9-2) routed the Gamecocks (9-4) at Norman, Okla.

No. 10 Baylor 76, Rice 51: Senior Angela Tisdale scored 18 points to reach 1,000 points in her career and the Lady Bears (10-1) rallied from a 22-11 deficit to roll past the Owls (7-7) at Waco, Texas.

HAWAI'I DIVISION II

NEBRASKA-OMAHA 87, HAWAI'I PACIFIC 46: LaToya Wright had 26 points and 17 rebounds, Cayla Hargroves had 18 points and Alyssa Green 14, powering the Mavericks (14-1) to a victory over the Sea Warriors (0-9) at Kilauea District Park Gym.
