The Ko'olau Loa Sustainable Communities Plan, which covers Ka'a'awa to Kawela, is under review and will be discussed at a meeting from 7 to 9 p.m. Aug. 30 at La'ie Elementary School.

The plan, adopted in 1999, provides long-range goals and policies to guide land use and infrastructure decisions for the Ko'olauloa area. It calls for preserving the region's rural character and its natural, scenic and agricultural resources.

Elements of the plan include establishing standards for rural development and enhancing commercial areas.
